Panchkula: Private school put on notice for expelling Class-4 student over fee dispute
Family of the Class 4 student alleged that the school staff mistreated the child in front of all students by not checking her notebooks and not allowing her to sit in exams
Taking strict note of a child’s ill-treatment by school staff and expulsion over a fee dispute, the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) has sought a report from Saupin’s School, Sector 9, as well as the Panchkula deputy commissioner in three days.
The directions came on the complaint of the family of the student, who studies in Class 4. They alleged that the school staff mistreated the child in front of all students by not checking her notebooks and not allowing her to sit in exams.
The committee on Monday asked the deputy commissioner to depute officials to investigate the matter and send an action-taken report with the name and phone number of the deputed official within three days.
Meanwhile, CWC said the incident arose owing to regular fee default. The total dues for academic session 2022-2023 are ₹41,330.
It directed the child’s parents to deposit the dues and told the school to re-admit the child in Class 4 without any additional late fee or admission fee.
It also asked the school to take immediate measures to change the behaviour of staff who harassed and abused the child, as fee issues concerned the parents not the child.
Despite repeated attempts, neither the school principal nor the coordinator could be contacted.
