During the march, morcha activists will carry black and saffron flags to protest against Punjab government’s failure to secure the release of Sikh prisoners who have completed their sentences.

Gurcharan Singh Hawara, the foster father of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) chief Jagtar Singh Hawara, made this announcement during a press conference on Monday. He was accompanied by Amar Singh Chahal, an advocate, and other members of the morcha. He said the protest will be supported by farmer organisations, social service groups and Sikh organisations.

Since January 7, the morcha has been protesting at Mohali’s YPS Chowk, bringing vehicle movement on the major Chandigarh-Mohali route to a complete halt.

On February 8, protesters had clashed with police forces at the Sector 52/53 dividing road after being stopped from marching towards Chandigarh, leaving at least 33 cops injured.
