Panchkula woman confronts man for hitting stray dog, beaten up

The woman, Sunita, a resident of Sector 20, told the police that she was sitting in the neighbourhood park with some women around 10.30 pm on August 2, when she saw the man hitting a stray dog

A man allegedly assaulted and threatened a woman after the latter confronted him for hitting a stray dog in Sector 20, police said on Monday.

The woman, Sunita, a resident of Sector 20, told the police that she was sitting in the neighbourhood park with some women around 10.30 pm on August 2.

There, she saw Prem Bishnoi, who lives in the same locality, hitting a stray dog while walking his pet dog.

Sunita alleged when she confronted Bishnoi over this, he rained blows and kicks on her, and fled as residents gathered. Before leaving, he threatened to kill her, Sunita told police.

The woman was treated for her injuries at the civil hospital in Sector 6. On Sunday, a case under Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code was registered at the Sector 20 police station. No arrest has been made so far.
