Meghan felt ‘uncomfortable’, ‘frustrated’ when Prince Harry gifted her…
Prince Harry’s aide called Meghan Markle and told her she couldn’t wear the necklace.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle didn’t have the easiest time when they started dating as the couple were followed by the paparazzi everywhere. Owing to this they had to take all kinds of precautions even relating to what Meghan Markle would wear during her public appearances. At that time, when Prince Harry gave Meghan a sweet gift, she was told she couldn’t wear it.
Prince Harry reportedly had a $300 necklace made for Meghan which held an “M” and “H” charm and was a sweet symbol of the couple’s romance. The necklace could not compare in price to some of the royal family’s fine jewelry. But when Meghan wanted to wear the necklace, she was not allowed to.
According to “Finding Freedom,” a biography about the couple, Prince Harry’s aide called Meghan Markle and told her she couldn’t wear the necklace.

“She was advised that wearing such a necklace only served to encourage the photographers to keep pursuing such images — and new headlines,” the book said. Authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand claimed that this made Meghan Markle very upset as she was not able to wear the sentimental gift.
“After hanging up, [Meghan] felt frustrated and emotional. While she knew the aide had good intentions, the surreal experience of having someone from her boyfriend’s office tell her what kind of jewelry to wear or not to smile at a photographer was too much," the book claimed.
The couple stepped down from their royal roles in 2020 along with their son Prince Archie. They now live in the United States where they also welcomes their daughter Princess Lilibet.
