When we are brought up in dysfunctional homes, we can get triggered by things in adult relationships that can bring back past trauma. It can be anything from people to places. "The people that trigger you in the present may not necessarily be involved with past trauma, especially in childhood, they can however bear a physical resemblance to someone who was present during the traumatic event, or people who exhibit similar behaviors or mannerisms as someone who was involved in the traumatic experience," wrote trauma Healing Specialist Emmylou Antonieth Seaman. Some people are unpredictable and the way they behave with us is inconsistent. They may be interested in us today and can behave completely away tomorrow. This can be a trigger for us. (Unsplash)
